Scrum Master certifications
A map of the Scrum Master credentials people confuse — and which one you are preparing for.
What this page is — and is not
Tanith Academy does not award PMP, CAPM, PMI-ACP, PRINCE2, ITIL, Scrum.org, IIBA, AWS, Microsoft, CompTIA, ACCA, CIM or GRI credentials. We prepare candidates. Where a cohort is delivered by an authorized partner, that provider is named. A Tanith certificate of completion or participation is not the external professional certification.
What the certification is
- There is no single Scrum Master licence. Scrum.org offers PSM, assessed by exam, with no required class. Scrum Alliance offers CSM, which requires an approved course and then an exam. Tanith’s scheduled workshop prepares you for PSM I. We will not describe that workshop as CSM, and we do not claim Scrum Alliance approval.
Issuing organization
- Scrum.org and Scrum Alliance (separate bodies)
Professional benefits
- You choose a credential with your eyes open, instead of buying a title.
Eligibility
- Depends entirely on the body. Read that body’s page.
Prerequisites
- The Scrum Guide, and honesty about which certificate your employer asked for.
Examination
- PSM via Scrum.org, or CSM via Scrum Alliance — different exams, different fees, different rules.
Official exam fees are charged by the issuing body and are not included unless a cohort states otherwise.
Training format
- Advisory conversation, then the PSM workshop if that is the right exam.
Training provider
- Tanith Academy. Name the body on every enrolment.
